Rathnamala, an elderly mother and the owner of Mala School and Cafe, is worried about her only son Harsha because he does not intend to marry. Just as Rathnamala is about to give up on him, she meets Bhuvi, a small town Kannada teacher.

Mysore Da Sara In Kannada

Bhuvaneshwari (Commonly called as Bhuvi) goes to Bengaluru (Bangalore) to work as a temporary lecturer to pay off her family's debts, and expects her friend Varudhini (also called Varu) to help. Varu runs a company named Saptapadhi, which performs wedding ceremonies. Varu meets Harsha at his cousin Aadhi's wedding and immediately falls in love. Aadhi's fiancé Sania's parents ask Rathnamala for a huge share in their property, which Rathnamala reluctantly agrees to. After the marriage, Rathnamala leaves for Sidagnoor Devi Darshan on a bus traveling through her home village Hasirupete. Bhuvi, who returned to Hasirupete after she helped at Aadhi's wedding, finds Ratnamala injured by a snake bite. Bhuvi takes Rathnamala to her home, who is impressed by Bhuvi's hospitality and kindness. Bhuvi and Rathnamala become close.

Rathnamala returns to Bengaluru and offers a Kannada lecturer post to Bhuvi and helps Bhuvi find a house to rent. Bhuvi and Harsha's paths cross many times. Bhuvi looks after Harsha at her home when he is sick for a few days. Rathnamala's doctor reveals to her that she does not have long to live. Rathnamala wants Harsha to marry Bhuvi; the two are share a mutual attraction, but Harsha has doubts about her idealism in his practical world while Bhuvi hides her feelings by claiming they are just friends.
